The arrangement marks the first time that MSC will work with Hamburg Süd on the South America trades.
New partnerships formed as service shake-ups and ship cascading continue
MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Co is teaming up with Hamburg Süd for the first time on a South America east coast service as part of a reorganisation of its network in the region. NYK is another new partner for MSC.
The Geneva line’s current Amazon service between the US Gulf and east coast of South America, plus a local feeder service, are being replaced by two new strings.
In one, MSC and Hamburg Süd will deploy seven 5,500 teu vessels on a roundtrip voyage linking the US and Mexico to Brazil via Panama and Colombia in 49 days.
