Should the Oetker family agree to sell, then buyers will soon be lining up for one of the best brands in the business. Oetker family reported to have called a summit to vote on whether to withdraw from shipping HAMBURG Süd’s future is set to be mapped out next week at a top-level meeting of shareholders to decide whether or not to sell the German shipping group, according to talk in Hamburg. Lloyd’s List understands that members of the Oetker famly, who own the world’s seventh-largest container line, will discuss two options, to retain their investment or to withdraw from shipping altogether. A possible merger with another carrier is not thought to be on the table. Should Hamburg Süd be put on the market, three names have been linked to an acquisition — Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Cosco Shipping.
