French line CMA CGM is taking over the operation of a reefer container service agreed with Dutch owner Seatrade in the summer. Seatrade said the vessel-sharing agreement (VSA) had been restructured and would not “proceed in its intended form.” “Seatrade has in recent months evaluated its global strategic options considering current market conditions, including the future involvement in the Meridian Service,” it added. The Seatrade Meridian Service was announced in July, linking northern Europe, the US east coast, Central America, the Pacific islands, Australia, New Zealand, Peru and the Caribbean on a weekly basis. CMA CGM will now operate and market it, Seatrade told TradeWinds.
